SAMEGRELO-ZEMO SVANETI STATE
Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (Upper Svanetia) is one of the states of Georgia. The administrative center is Zugdidi.
The most well-known cities of the state are Zugdidi, Poti and Mestia. Other cities are Abasha, Martvili, Senaki, Chohorotsku, Tsalenciha and Hobi.
According to the 2014 Georgia census, 99.37% of the population is Georgian and 0.35% is Russian. Other ethnic groups also live in the region, including Ukrainians, Armenians, Abkhazians and Greeks.
The widely spoken language in the region is Georgian. The Kartvelian languages Mingrelian (by the Mingrelians, a subgroup of the Georgian people) and Svan (by the Svans, a subgroup of the Georgian people) are also spoken in the region.
Ushba Mountain, one of the highest places in the country, is located in this state. The state is valuable in terms of its places to visit, natural beauties and opportunities for many activities.
