Sometimes I find myself at the near of an old church I saw in a movie, other times I’m following an old photographer, the words of the books… My journeys start alone, but fate always intersects my path with good people. When I return, my burden becomes heavier; I turn back home with what I’ve seen, what I’ve learned.
My routes have always come from either a movie or a book; I've chased after tales and legends. I researched extensively, wrote, drew, and scribbled. I counted the days until I set out on a journey. Sometimes going once wasn't enough; I went a second time to see, a third time to learn, a fourth time to connect... From those connections, the world's most beautiful wines filled my glass; notes of friendship, culture, geography...
I built bridges from one city to another. I closed my eyes at the Kırkdamaltı Church in Ihlara Valley, and I opened them among Tbilisi's old brick houses with wooden balconies, amidst labyrinthine narrow streets. I got lost in the stories that dragged me along. Because a road worth calling a road can only be found if one gets lost.
